Three Ways To Get Data While Traveling Abroad

If you are planning on traveling overseas in 2025, you will need data, please find below the three ways and how affordable and convenient vivnet these options are.

eSim

You’ve probably seen all the ads about eSims and how affordable and convent they are which I do believe to be true. ESims are easy to install and provide a hassle-free way to get data while on your trip. With that being said, I don’t think that they are the most affordable option.

Affordability ⭐⭐

Convenience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Physical Sim card

So unfortunately only the older Apple phones have the port that allows you to change the SIM card but if you are lucky enough to have an old phone or a new phone that is not from the US you will still have the port.

For physical Sim cards, I think that they are the most fuss because typically you have to find a verified store (I like actual stores rather than corner shops usually because the service is better and more reliable) and you have to change your phone number. This may mean that you won’t receive text messages or calls from your old phone number.

The pro about this option is that physical Sims are the most affordable option.

Affordability ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Convenience ⭐⭐

International Plan

This is easily the least affordable option but probably the most convenient because - at least for my plan - I just rock up to another country and it starts charging me. I have had to use this in the past due to SIM card issues.

Affordability ⭐

Convenience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Overall, the best option is eSims because they are cheaper than international plans but more convenient than physical Sims. I recommend eSims for shorter trips, newer travelers and people who want a hassle free trip.
